Orality in Literature and Translation (2022-)
Katharina Mevissen, Research Area 4: "Literary Currencies"
Doctoral Research Project
Katharina Mevissen's work deals with the oral and performative dimensions of literature and its translation. It not only examines interlingual but also medial translation processes of literary orality and writing. One particular focus is the study of accent in literary speaking and writing, understood as a productive deviation from standard language and as a spectrum of pronunciation and performance of a text.
The dissertation project is part of the EXC 2020 research project "A Dialogue from Time to Time: Translation and Literary Multilingualism" (Project lead: Prof. Dr. Cornelia Ortlieb).
