Paradigms of Digital Reception Studies: Productive Literary Reception Phenomena as Linked Data Using the Example of the German-Language Literary Reception of Sappho (2024–)
Laura Untner, Research Area 5: "Building Digital Communities"
Doctoral Research Project
The dissertation project develops foundational methodological approaches for digital literary reception studies, with a particular focus on testing and discussing the suitability of semantic technologies. Knowledge about approximately 100 productive literary reception testimonies related to Sappho from the German-speaking world, along with their interrelations, is modelled as Linked Data, especially using the OWL ontology INTRO. Furthermore, the project explores exemplary usage scenarios of digital text corpora and editions, alongside other widely used DH methods such as XML/TEI, topic modelling, sentiment analysis, stylometry and network analysis, in the context of reception studies.
