Pedro Mora Madriñán was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He received his B.A. in English and his M.A. in Cultural Studies from Humboldt Universität Berlin and was an exchange student at Paris III-Sorbonne Nouvelle. In October 2023 he joined the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School and the Cluster of Excellence "Temporal Communities", where he works as a doctoral researcher in the project "Critical Theory on the Periphery of Capitalism: Literary Form and Contradictions of Progress in the Work of Roberto Schwarz".

Current research includes an EXC 2020 doctoral research project, Critical Theory on the Periphery of Capitalism: Literary Form and the Contradictions of Progress in Brazil in the Cultural Criticism of Roberto Schwarz (2023-).
