Workshop | Beyond Heteronormative Structures and Spaces: Examining the Interlocking Dimensions of Discrimination in Academia and Establishing Intersectional Feminism in the Archives
Organised by Lindsey Drury, Sima Ehrentraut, Samira Spatzek, and Nina Tolksdorf (EXC 2020) in cooperation with Karina Rocktäschel (SFB 1171 Affective Societies) and EXC 2020's Diversity AG
A workshop with orchi lohani and Robel Afeworki Abay (ZSIMT Berlin).
The Cluster of Excellence Temporal Communities seeks to examine literary phenomena from a global perspective, and to 'rethink' literature across times and spaces. In the coming semesters, workshops geared towards meeting this ambitious research agenda both on a scientific and on a structural, ethical level will be offered regularly. They are designed to face the research agenda’s thematic and interdisciplinary challenges from multiple perspectives.
The aim of the workshop is to discuss feminist perspectives on how to combat epistemic injustice and to promote intersectional understanding of anti-racist and anti-sexist researching and teaching in the classroom. The workshop seeks to work towards the participants' critical examination of their own position as a researcher and wants to pay special attention to what that position means when working with different kinds of archives (e.g. discursive, material, textual, visual), as well as what kinds of ethics and scientific practices an engagement with one's positionality requires or engenders.
The workshop is specifically tailored to an academic setting, and it follows the workshop “Antirassismus als Querschnittaufgabe,” conducted by Sami Omar in November 2021. It seeks to provide a protected space for professional development, both status-group-specific and across status groups.
