Lecture Series: The Invention of the Modern Religious Bookshelf | Mark Sedgwick: Universalism, Perennialism, and the Modern Religious Bookshelf
Organised by Christian Meyer, project The Invention of the Modern Religious Bookshelf: Canons, Concepts and Communities, Research Area 3: "Future Perfect". This event is part of the lecture series The Invention of the Modern Religious Bookshelf.
In the evening Prof. Mark Sedgwick (University Aarhus) will present his lecture Universalism, Perennialism and the Modern Religious Bookshelf, where he will examine the concept of the "modern religious bookshelf" by discussing questions of book production, canon formation and intellectual networks, using the example of the anti-modern movement of traditionalism around René Guénon in the early 20th century.
A workshop with Mark Sedgwick will take place on the same day before the lecture: Workshop | A Conversation with Mark Sedgwick on Universalism, Perennialism, and the Modern Religious Bookshelf, 2pm - 4pm.
