Launch | Online exhibition "Visual Echoes" in cooperation with the 90'x collective
In close cooperation with the Georgian photographers of the 90’x collective and complemented by visual artist and former Dorothea Schlegel Artist in Residence Lea Hopp, Sima Ehrentraut (Academic Coordinator BPN) and Lindsey Drury (Postdoctoral Researcher Research Area 5) have developed an online exhibition space that enables a photographic exploration of the theme "echoes".
The four individual projects of the artists Thoma Sukhashvili, Giorgi Rodionov, Nino-Ana Samkharadze and Mano Svanidze examine the temporal and historical implications of the echo in different approaches that emphasize the interrelation between photography, biographical narration and the ambivalent preservation of lost spaces and identities. Their works overlap through their shared interest in the role space plays in the unfolding of the echo, the relevance of repetition of image, sound and memory and the context of Georgian history.
To celebrate the launch we will come together with the artists involved at 3 pm on October 27 at the Cluster’s Research Area 5. Participation can be in person at the Cluster building or online. You are cordially invited to join us for a presentation followed by a discussion on the project and to celebrate the launch of the exhibition website.
